In 2007, veteran offensive lineman Tutan Reyes founded Beyond the Boroughs committed to bringing bright futures to young men and women through a scholarship fund that rewards students that have a college acceptance letter but have an unmet financial need.
Beyond the Boroughs creates deserved college scholarship opportunities for students, with a primary focus on first generation collegians. Our mission is rooted in a refusal to let lingering financial hardship deter the next generation of global contributors. Where there is a supplemental scholarship need and a driven young person, Beyond the Boroughs thrives on the challenge to provide support –- money and mentorship — asking only that each member of the BTB family give back, by one day sharing his or her experience with another.
Beyond the Boroughs fills the often-overlooked void of “last dollars in,” helping each student fulfill his or her dream and frequently becoming the difference between successful enrollment and a crucial, missed opportunity for growth.
The secondary goal of Beyond the Boroughs is to engage all people in the act of philanthropy to create a college scholarship fund large enough to inspire young people to work hard in school, feel supported, and strive for excellence.
As a public charity with 501c3 status from the IRS, Beyond the Boroughs raises money and disseminates as many scholarships as possible each year.
